The Future of Healthcare Organizations
A rigorous, practical course to understand, anticipate and lead the reforms the health system needs.
100% Onlife* method · 15 Sep – 6 Nov 2026
Transform the way you understand the health system.
You learn from Manel del Castillo, who for two decades led the transformation of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu —one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world— and shares here his vision of the healthcare that is coming.
This is not theory about the sector: it is the experience of someone who has been at the helm, turned into a roadmap to read the major challenges and turn them into opportunities.
- Analyze how the system's actors evolve: patients, professionals and administrations.
- Identify the most pressing challenges facing European health systems.
- Manage with equity, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Understand the Sant Joan de Déu case as an internationally recognized transformation.
- Apply practical micro-management tools from day one.
- Lead reforms with real impact and a deeply human approach.
Four modules that move from a broad view of the system to the living case of a leading hospital, and from there to tools you apply in your own organization.
The current state of the health system
Great strengths and growing weaknesses: a challenge of social and economic sustainability that demands deep reforms.
The major challenges facing each actor
- Patients: the challenge of demand.
- Professionals: the challenge of supply.
- Administration and funding: the challenge of economic sustainability.
Pending transformations
- Macro-management: equity and real coverage.
- Meso-management: efficiency, organization and incentives.
- Micro-management: effectiveness driven by purpose and innovation.
The hospital's evolution (2003–2023)
Internationalization, research and innovation to face the challenges of viability, identity and sustainability.
Results of the transformation
- Scientific, clinical and organizational progress, with high satisfaction among patients and professionals.
- Projects such as the Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona or the ÚNICAS network: science and humanism.
The challenge of identity
Giraffe Culture: the 7 Cs (Cause, Capacity, Compassion, Knowledge, Commitment, Collaboration and Change). Leadership grounded in purpose, trust and shared responsibility.
An inspiring example
You can transform a healthcare organization without giving up its essential values.
Two days at the heart of the hospital to see how innovation, humanism and excellence take shape in a real management model: from the transformation and innovation model to the voice of the patient, Value Based Healthcare, digital transformation, HR and culture, with visits to the PICU, the surgical block, the Còrtex Clinical Command Center and the Pediatric Cancer Center.
