A course with Manel del Castillo3rd Edition

The Future of Healthcare Organizations

A rigorous, practical course to understand, anticipate and lead the reforms the health system needs.

100% Onlife* method · 15 Sep – 6 Nov 2026

The approach

Transform the way you understand the health system.

You learn from Manel del Castillo, who for two decades led the transformation of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu —one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world— and shares here his vision of the healthcare that is coming.

This is not theory about the sector: it is the experience of someone who has been at the helm, turned into a roadmap to read the major challenges and turn them into opportunities.

By the end, you will be able to
  • Analyze how the system's actors evolve: patients, professionals and administrations.
  • Identify the most pressing challenges facing European health systems.
  • Manage with equity, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Understand the Sant Joan de Déu case as an internationally recognized transformation.
  • Apply practical micro-management tools from day one.
  • Lead reforms with real impact and a deeply human approach.
The programme

Four modules that move from a broad view of the system to the living case of a leading hospital, and from there to tools you apply in your own organization.

    1. The current state of the health system

Great strengths and growing weaknesses: a challenge of social and economic sustainability that demands deep reforms.

    2. The major challenges facing each actor

      • Patients: the challenge of demand.
      • Professionals: the challenge of supply.
      • Administration and funding: the challenge of economic sustainability.
    3. Pending transformations

      • Macro-management: equity and real coverage.
      • Meso-management: efficiency, organization and incentives.
      • Micro-management: effectiveness driven by purpose and innovation.
